    Linda Akbar and Joy Swanson are sharing a particularly special Mother’s Day weekend. The mother and daughter from Buffalo graduated together on Saturday from Hilbert College in Hamburg. Akbar, 52, earned her bachelor’s degree in human services.

    The Hilbert College cross-country team will commemorate team member Meghan Sorbera, killed by a hit-run driver on South Park Avenue in October 2008, by sponsoring the Meghan Memorial Race on Saturday at Frontier Central High School in Hamburg. The race will start at 9 a.m.
