    Friday August 26, 2011 BENNINGTON -- Southern Vermont College will orient 241 students this weekend, despite inclement weather from a large hurricane making its way up the East Coast. SVC President Karen Gross said there's been a 24 percent increase in the size of the freshman class, surpassing the normal 5 or 6 percent growth the college has been seeing over the past five years.

    HOOSICK, N.Y. - Ten high school students were treated for minor injuries Tuesday after a Southern Vermont College passenger van they were riding in went out of control navigating a turn on New York Route 7 and crashed through guardrails into a utility pole.

    Wednesday June 22, 2011 BENNINGTON -- If the producers at "Jeopardy!" had contacted Elaine Garrett a few months later, she might have simply been unavailable. Garrett, a resident of Troy, N.Y., and assistant director of admissions at Southern Vermont College, flew to California at the beginning of March to be a contestant on the popular game show.
