School Notes Overview:
RUST COLLEGE is a historically Black, coeducational, senior liberal arts college founded in 1866 by the Freedman's Aid Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The College is dedicated to serve students with a variety of academic preparations, through instruction in the humanities, social behavior sciences, natural science, business, technology and education. Rust College recognizes the three-fold function of education as being teaching, research, and community service.

  • The Rust College academic program offers degrees in sixteen areas of study. The curriculum is organized as follows: the required general education program, major and minor areas of study and electives. Rust College offers major areas of study in liberal arts and sciences.

    Rust College Community Development Corporation happily presented to Dwight Harris, '08, and his family the keys to their new Martin Street home. The presentation was held June 15. In attendance were Clencie L. Cotton, director of the CDC, and Lexine Smith of the Bank of Holly Springs.

    The Marshall County Relay For Life was considered a success this year, partly because weather permitted the act to go on and a good crowd turned out to enjoy fun and fellowship.

    - Four students from Northeast Mississippi were among 52 students in the state to receive National Merit Scholarships financed by colleges and universities. Felicity Flesher and Jillian Mattern of Oxford, Matthew Berk of Starkville and Aaron Moeller of Tupelo each received one of the scholarships.
