- Founded in 1960 as a two-year branch of the College of William and Mary, CNU became independent in 1977 and gained university status in 1991. Today, CNU is the youngest comprehensive university in the Commonwealth.
- Our primary emphasis is to provide outstanding undergraduate education. We also serve the Commonwealth with Master's degree programs that provide intellectual and professional development for graduate level students.
