Northland College was founded in 1892 and adopted an environmental liberal arts mission in 1971.
Northland's innovative general education curriculum, called Natural Connections, redefines environmental liberal arts education. Academic programs include Education, Environmental Sciences, Natural Resources, Business, Outdoor Education, and more.
On the shores of the greatest of the Great Lakes and surrounded by nearly a million acres of national forest, Northland College students study nature in nature. We think of our location as our million-acre classroom.
Northland College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (formerly North Central Association). Ten-year reaccreditation occurred February 2001.

Northland College in Ashland is reducing its tuition for certain students to attract more talent. Joe Cadotte reports. Starting this fall students with families who make less than $150,000 per year will qualify for a program to attend Northland College for around $16,500 less per year.

Bayfield County District Attorney Craig Haukaas said Wednesday that he is still awaiting written preliminary autopsy results before he decides whether or not he will file charges in the apparent hit-and-run accidental death of a 23-year-old Northland College graduate following the Book Across the Bay event on Chequamegon Bay Saturday evening.
