The Southwest Minnesota State University provides high quality liberal arts, professional, and technical programs at the undergraduate and graduate level. Outstanding facilities include the SMSU Library, Planetarium, Student Center and Conference Centers, and the Recreation/Athletic Facility, which features a fieldhouse with seating for 4,0000, al multi-purpose room, and a weight-training and fitness room.

The dedication of the newly-named McFarland Library will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 27, in front of the library entrance at Southwest Minnesota State University. The library is being named for D.C. "Pat" McFarland Jr.
