The community enjoys daily Amtrak service to Chicago and points east, and to Denver and points west. Commercial airlines are within easy access in Burlington and Cedar Rapids.     Chapter DP of the P.E.O. Sisterhood met at the home of Harriett Brust June 22. Connie Knauss served as co-hostess. The ceremony of initiation for the newest member, Anna Clark, was held. After the regular business meeting, president Charlotte Burbridge, delegate to the recent Iowa State Chapter Convention gave a report.

    Abby Jurewicz , of Maywood, graduated from Centre College, Danville, Ky., during the 187th commencement ceremony held at the College's Norton Center for the Arts on Sunday, May 23. Jurewicz earned a bachelor of arts degree in dramatic arts .

    Cindy Wilcox (left) of Lancaster, Mo., inherited a copperhead topped cane from her great-great-grandfather Henry Clay Dean, a Civil War era man with ties to Keokuk. History Detective Wes Cowan (right) tells the story at 8 p.m. Monday in the “History Detective” “Copperhead Cane” segment.
