- From its founding, Wheaton Seminary was a pioneering institution, offering young women the means to pursue serious study at a time when women's educational options were few.
- Wheaton offers a challenging liberal arts curriculum leading to a bachelor of arts degree in more than 40 majors and 50 minors. Students choose from over 600 courses in subjects from physics to philosophy, political science to computer science, art history to theater, English to economics. In addition, Wheaton offers highly specialized courses typically found only at large universities.
- The essence of a Wheaton education lies in the close collaborative relationships that develop between students and faculty. Classes are small. Students know their professors as teachers, advisors, supervisors of research projects and often as friends. The student-faculty ratio is 10-to-1 and the average class size is between 15 and 20, promoting rich intellectual discourse among students and their professors. Often, students collaborate with faculty members on research projects or artistic endeavors such as gallery exhibitions and theatre productions.
- Wheaton has outstanding facilities to support academic, residential and co-curricular life including a $20 million arts facilities expansion, National Science Foundation-funded digital imaging center, and state-of-the-art library and language labs. The Balfour-Hood Campus Center houses a campus pub, café, game room, fitness center, post office, lounges, media center and videotape editing room, radio station, and meeting space for student clubs and organizations. Wheaton also boasts one of the finest NCAA Division III athletic facilities in New England in its Haas Athletic Center.
