- Chemist and educator Mary Lyon founded Mount Holyoke College (then called Mount Holyoke Female Seminary) in 1837, nearly a century before women gained the right to vote. Today, her famous words—"Go where no one else will go, do what no one else will do"—continue to inspire Mount Holyoke students.
- Located in South Hadley, Massachusetts, Mount Holyoke is 90 minutes west of Boston and three hours north of New York City. - Mount Holyoke's superb resources and facilities include a 700,000-volume library; a $36-million, state-of-the-art Science Center; recently expanded and renovated music and art buildings; and first-rate sports and dance complex, Equestrian Center, and golf course.
- Mount Holyoke offers 14 varsity sports programs and seven competitive club sports teams. A member of the NCAA Division III and the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC), MHC competes among many top-ranked teams and long-time local rivals. The College is dedicated to the NCAA Division III philosophy of making athletics an integral part of the educational experience and creating an opportunity for student-athletes to become well-rounded individuals.
