New York Institute of Technology was founded in 1955 with a mission to provide career-focused education, to offer access to opportunity, to enhance learning through technology and to encourage applications-oriented research.
Through its eight schools, NYIT offers more than 100 undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programs in arts, sciences, architecture, technology, business, education and professional services
NYIT has three campuses in the New York metropolitan area. Two are on Long Island, a suburban region east of New York City. The Dorothy and Alexander Schure Old Westbury campus is nestled among several former estates in the historic Gold Coast region of Nassau County’s north shore. The Central Islip campus is located on Suffolk County’s south shore, just minutes from several Atlantic Ocean beaches. The third NYIT campus is located in the New York City borough of Manhattan, just a few blocks from Lincoln Center and Central Park.
New York Institute of Technology is chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York. The college is accredited by Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, The Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET), The National Architectural Accrediting Board, The Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education, Council for Interior Design Accreditation.
